When the mountain remembers.

There are places in this world where the veil between the seen and the unseen wears thin. In the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, that veil doesn’t just ripple…it breathes.

For generations, the people of Taos have spoken of strange lights along the trails, echoes that don’t belong to any creature, and a low vibration deep in the bones of the mountain itself.

Old-timers call it the hum.

Scientists call it an unexplained acoustic phenomenon.

But the truth is simpler:

The mountain remembers. 

It always has.

And long before anyone had a name for it, the whispers were already there. Most travelers never hear them. Some feel a shiver and keep walking. Most dismiss the stories as legends told for the sake of campfires.

But then came Nic: a dare, a trail, a moment of fear…and the veil trembled.

Where countless others would have run and pretended nothing happened, Nic did the one thing the mountain had been waiting for:

He listened.

He believed.

And then he shared what he saw.

With that single act, the world of The Pack Warriors didn’t awaken. We did.

What stirred in Eldritch was only the first ripple… the first breath of a story that’s been waiting centuries to be told.

And the wolves?

Their stories run deeper still, threaded through with courage, loyalty, sacrifice, and the oldest truths carried on the wind.

The mountain never forgot. The spirits never slept.

And more than once in history, others have heard the call of the wolves: hunters, healers, wanderers, children who listened when the wind carried something more.

Most never told the tale. Most let the memory fade. But their stories remain, buried in earth and echo, waiting for someone willing to listen.

So we remember, revealing what has always existed just beyond the edge of human understanding.
